Nine of our 9 Lives volunteers enjoyed good food and conversation at the Longtable Beer Cafe in Middleton on Wednesday after work. Although the venue was a bit loud, the food and drinks were excellent. We enjoyed the chance to chat with fellow volunteers, and share 9 Lives news and experiences – with the added bonus of shared kitten photos and videos!
9 Lives Rescue at Kibble 4 A Cause
9 Lives Rescue attended the Kibble 4 A Cause radiothon on Thursday morning, this year held at Barks on Bourbon in Cross Plains. We had a table indoors, while the radio stations had to set up tents outside in the chilly weather – they couldn’t broadcast from inside the metal building!
Four radio stations were present: 94.1 JJO, Magic 98, 106.7 The Resistance, and Q106, and each station interviewed many of the rescues participating. It was a full day of awareness for area rescues, and we’re so grateful!

Featured Adoptable Cat: Shiloh
Shiloh is a very friendly, talkative, playful, and affectionate cat who loves to cuddle and be pet. He has a laid-back personality and quickly warms up to people who give him attention. He’s an absolute love bug and getting him to purr is very easy. He’s a handsome boy with a lot of personality and is very smart. He even comes when you call him! He makes his foster mom smile and laugh every day.
Shiloh can live with other cats, respectful dogs, and older children who will play with him but not try to pick him up. He would do best in a home where someone is usually home, as he gets lonely when he’s alone.
He was born in 2017, is neutered, current on his vaccines, microchipped, and negative for FeLV and FIV.

Help Willy Breathe!
When he was brought indoors and into the care of 9 Lives, he had an injured front leg that our vet figured was the result of trauma, likely a fall from 2- to 3-stories high! 9 Lives immediately treated his leg and heโs doing great. Heโs sweet, lovable, and gets along with humans, cats, and dogs.
Unfortunately, the trauma also injured his throat, and On a good day, Willy breathes with an awful wheeze. On a bad day, he struggles to breathe, and the obstruction is life-threatening.
A simple but expensive surgery will open up his airway and relieve his suffering. The bill will be high, but we can’t turn our backs on Willy.

Featured Adoptable Cats: Sammy and Nelson
Sammy, 8, is a sweetheart, extremely affectionate and docile, a real lap kitty who also likes to be picked up! He loves to play with feathers and eat Churus and chomp on cat grass; one of his favorite things is to perch on his cat tree and check out what’s happening outside. He also loves hanging with his best friend, Nelson.
Nelson, 6, spent years in isolation before coming to his current foster, so he is adjusting to the joy of being free to move. He LOVES his new buddy Sammy! Now he is typically out and about, curiously watching the bigger world outside from his perch on his cat tree, or begging for food or playtime. Overall he is shy and needs a place to hide if overwhelmed, but he is getting more and more comfortable with people and he is gaining confidence from Sammy.
Nelson and Sammy met because each had ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ธ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ฎ ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ (๐๐ฒ๐๐ฉ), and they became best friends. Having FeLV means that the immune system is compromised, but it is a condition that can be managed. More information available on request.
Sammy and Nelson are bonded friends who must be adopted together. They are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV.
