The spectacled bear was rescued in 2017 by ADI from a remote zoo in Peru. Taken from the wild as cubs, when her sister passed away Dominga was left all alone. She lost almost all of her fur due to stress. Five years ago ADI took Dominga home to a specially built habitat in the Peruvian forest at Taricaya Ecological Reserve. Her fur didn’t grow back but she has thrived and has two other bears, Cholita and Sabina, as neighbours. If Dominga looks completely relaxed and at home here, it’s because she is home.
